Children's Pastor
Pastor Chris and Joni Criswell come to us from Potter’s House Church of God in Columbus, Ohio where they have been since 2001. They began their ministry at The Potter’s House as the Young Adult Pastors and children’s volunteers and have served the past 4 years as the full time Children’s Pastor. While working in the children’s ministry, Pastor Chris has headed up multiple Sidewalk Sunday School sites, spearheaded a district children’s revival, led several outreach projects, and preached regularly in adult led services.
Chris and Joni graduated from Lee University where they met. They were married in December 2000. Chris has a B.S. in Pastoral Ministry and Joni has just completed her PhD in Ecology and Animal Behavior from The Ohio State University.
Chris successfully completed the requirements to become an Ordained Bishop in the spring of 2009. Joni also has her Exhorters lscense.
Pastor Chris grew up in Troy, Tennessee where he attended Graves Chapel Church of God. While attending college he became involved in children’s ministry and adult ministries at the East Cleveland Church of God and also volunteered with Backyard Ministries, a tutoring and outreach program to underprivileged children in East Cleveland.
Joni grew up in Royston, Georgia. She attended the Royston Church of God where she was actively involved in drama, music and all phases of church work. While at Lee she was involved in the Symphonic Band, and drama group Acts of God.
Pastor Chris and Joni are dedicated to teaching the next generation about God and what He can do in their lives. With the world continuously going after our children at younger and younger ages, we must be proactive in depositing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their lives. Pastor Chris and Joni hope to partner with parents to influence our children to become followers of Christ. With this partnership and specific teaching on the power of God in their lives, Pastor Chris and Joni believe they can help train a generation that will affect the world for Christ.
